Construction of a hydraulic distributor

Mechanical engineering and system construction TruPrint Stainless steel Additive manufacturing

The hydraulic manifold is integrated in a TRUMPF laser system and is designed to distribute cooling water. It was developed with the help of TRUMPF advisors. The result is a monolithic component with integrated angle brackets, fewer leakage points, and a higher power. In comparison to conventional hydraulic distributors, hydraulic distributors produced using additive manufacturing stand out for using up to 60% less material.

Facts & figures about the example part

Material: 316L

Weight: 966 g

Construction duration: 32 h for 6 units

Number of layers: 2134

Created by: TRUMPF

The additive manufacturing process is a little more expensive than a traditionally machined hydraulic manifold. However, the advantages provided by the reduced vibration, reduced pressure loss, part consolidation, and thus reduced number of leakage points are more important to us. Thanks to these advantages, we deliver machines that are more powerful and that meet TRUMPF quality standards.

TruPrint 3000, flexible solution for industrial 3D printing
TruPrint 3000

TruPrint 3000 is a universal medium-format machine (LMF / PBF / LPBF) with Industrial Part and Powder Management. This mean you benefit from even more flexibility, quality and productivity for your additive series production – now also with the full-field multilaser option with two 500 watt lasers from TRUMPF. Productivity is almost doubled, independent of the component geometry, and the part costs are significantly decreased.
