TRUMPF to introduce its most advanced vision performance options with Programmable Focusing Optic (PFO) 33 and PFO SF small field scanner
TRUMPF Shows New Laser Processing Optics and Sensors at Photonics West 2023
FARMINGTON, Conn., January 31, 2023 – The high-tech company TRUMPF will unveil the latest generation of TRUMPF programmable focusing optics, the PFO 33 for high power laser applications and the PFO SF small field scanner to the North American market at the Photonics West 2023 show in San Francisco, California. The PFO 33 also features new VisionLine OCT Detect for 3D feature recognition capability.
New Programmable Focusing Optics for High Power and Large Scan Fields
TRUMPF presents the third generation PFO 33, suitable for the highest laser power applications and large scan fields. The optics come with an intelligent control system that continuously communicates with the laser. This ensures each process is executed with repeatable precision in highly productive manufacturing processes involving many welds. Another notable feature is a special lens that is available for the optics. The optics’ mirrors move dynamically. This affords manufacturers greater leeway in designing welding strategies and geometries. It also boosts efficiency on the production line.
The PFO 33 for high power laser applications comes with new VisionLine OCT Detect, which combines reflected light imaging with optical coherence tomography (OCT) to distinguish three-dimensional features. Thanks to this ability to detect geometries on the surface of the workpiece, the PFO 33 can adapt laser processing to individual situations. The OCT sensor scans the component coaxially to the processing laser and works independently of the respective lighting and clamping situation. The 3D information generated can be used for positioning and checking component features, for example the height offset of components.
New Programmable Focusing Optics for Small Working Fields
TRUMPF will also be showing the new PFO SF small field scanner for laser powers up to 8kW. The compact design of the PFO SF makes it ideal for beam oscillation in a small working area and its lightweight mirrors create the highest dynamics possible.
