Inductor
Additive manufacturing offers an alternative to conventional production of the part from multiple segments that have to be bent or milled and soldered together. The cooler has improved cooling through internal conformal cooling channels and flexible production with additive manufacturing. In addition, the efficiency and power input are optimized. The material properties correspond to those of conventional pure copper ETP without requiring heat treatment directly from the machine (101% IACS conductivity, 394 W/(m*K) heat conductivity, 99.9% density of an associated test cube). The inductor was developed by the SMS ELOTHERM Group for hardening drive shafts and has a single-part design without any solder joints up to the other connections to the water cooling system.
