e-drive concept demonstrator
The demonstrator showcases the capabilities of additive manufacturing, highlighting the combination of exceptional materials and the design freedom afforded by additive manufacturing. Each winding of the copper coils is individually designed to enhance the copper fill factor of the e-drive. These designs are then printed using the TruPrint 5000 Green Edition. The use of pure copper demonstrates excellent material properties such as > 100% IACS conductivity. The housing is made of aluminium (a typical ferromagnetic material) and internally cooled to increase power. The TruPrint systems offer highly reproducible printing, and the ease of transitioning between production, such as from TruPrint 3000 to TruPrint 5000, presents a significant advantage for scaling production and reducing startup costs. The TruPrint 3000 can now produce 220 cm³ of aluminum parts per hour by using two lasers, each operating at 700 W laser power. With the addition of an extra laser, the TruPrint 5000 attains even higher values while maintaining consistent surface quality.
