Aluminium backbones for downhill bike

General industry TruPrint Aluminium Additive Manufacturing

Intense Cycles uses 3D printed parts made of validated 6061 RAM2 for the production of prototypes, in particular the backbone. This component connects the front triangle of the frame with the spring-loaded rear end of the bike and takes on all the stresses of demanding downhill World Cup racing. The material is extremely easy to weld, and can also be anodised. The TruPrint 3000 enables these parts to be produced with outstanding surface quality and a high level of productivity.

I love new technologies, in particular advanced materials and processes that speed up prototyping. We finally have weldable, heat-treatable printing powder made from 6061 aluminium. These 3D printed backbones combine printed and tubular alloy parts that are welded in a conventional process here in our FAB LAB.

TruPrint 3000, flexible solution for industrial 3D printing
TruPrint 3000

TruPrint 3000 is a universal medium-format machine (LMF / PBF / LPBF) with Industrial Part and Powder Management. This means you benefit from even more flexibility, quality and productivity for your additive batch production – now also with the full-field multilaser option with two 500 watt lasers from TRUMPF. Productivity is almost doubled, independent of the component geometry, and the part costs are significantly decreased.
