On July 1, 2024, the TRUMPF Group concluded an extremely challenging fiscal year 2023/24. Our incoming orders fell from 5.1 billion euros in the previous year to 4.7 billion euros. At 5.2 billion euros, our turnover also remained below the previous year (5.4 billion euros). As a result, the operating result fell from 615 million euros to 494 million euros. The return on sales fell from 10.9% in the previous year to 9.5%.
These figures, which we attribute largely to the weak global economy and increased geopolitical uncertainties, have prompted us to take consistent measures with regard to material and personnel costs. This is not the first time in the company's 101-year history that TRUMPF has acted quickly and resolutely to improve earnings and we are continuing on this path in the current fiscal year!
Despite this, we remain a research-driven company, investing in innovation even in economically difficult times. In this annual report you will be able to get a picture of what this means for us. The report is dedicated to plasma applications in the semiconductor sector, but also in photovoltaics and other product segments, mainly supported by the TRUMPF Electronics Division in Freiburg and Warsaw.
The cover design, a space girl wearing a helmet, with tropical birds and the TRUMPF logo on her overalls, was created by English graphic artist Rocket01. It consists exclusively of parts that have a connection with TRUMPF, an ultrashort pulse laser as well as an 850-nanometer diode.
The artist presented this comic-style piece to our Spanish subsidiary in spring 2023 to mark the opening of our new building. I mean, you can hardly get any more imaginative or more future- (and female-!) oriented than this!
We hope you enjoy your journey through the world of plasma.
Yours truly, Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller
